Day 2-The Badlands

Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. -Ralph Waldo Emerson

The second day I woke up extremely excited. I had never been anywhere even close to being like Drumheller, and the photos I'd seen online were very intriguing. We had to drive a bit out of our way again, and on the way, we found the creepiest little ghost town in the middle of nowhere. Just sitting there in the car snapping pics I felt the chill of the past. We finally arrived, and as soon as we drove into town, everything was different. They really play up the dinosaur thing there, but I felt like a cowboy would have. This place looked different than any other part of Canada I had ever seen. The true wild west.

We stopped in town for lunch, then continued on to find the hoo doos. On the way, we found a suspension bridge, and I of course was too scared to go out because of the sudden windstorm that was going on. Which, I might add, was freaking awesome to watch. The whole town suddenly covered in dust and high winds. I'm really sad that we didn't have time to do anything more, and the kids were also with us. But hey, I will definitely take what I can get. The hoo doos were my favorite part of the whole trip. I left all the boys in the car and took some time for myself and walked through, capturing their brilliance with my mind and camera. It was very spiritual. After that we continued through the Badlands to Saskatchewan.

The time to hesitate is through
No time to wallow in the mire
Try now we can only lose
And our love become a funeral pyre
Come on baby, light my fire
Try to set the night on fire.
